Terms of service

Version 1.12 · Updated Oct 31, 2026

The agreement between Tapsity and an instructor who uses it. Students are not party to it, because they have no accounts.

The service

Tapsity is classroom polling. You write questions, ask them in a lecture, and get the totals back. It is provided to you as an instructor, not to your institution, unless a separate agreement with your institution says otherwise.

Your account

You sign in with a Google account or a Microsoft work or school account, and you are responsible for keeping that sign-in secure. Do not share it. Do not use Tapsity to break the law or your institution's rules.

Your content

Your questions, lectures, explanations and images stay yours. You give Tapsity only the licence it needs to run the service for you, such as storing them, showing them to you and to your class in a session, and sending them to the AI model when you ask the AI Assistant for something.

You confirm that you hold the rights to what you upload, paste or attach. Slide photos often hold a publisher's figures. Tapsity reads only what you give it and takes in no textbooks or publisher material in bulk, so what you give it is your responsibility.

There is no storage limit. An image is at most 4 MB. An image a question uses is never deleted or locked while your account exists. An image is deleted when the last question that uses it is deleted, and one that no question uses (never saved in a question, or taken out of one) is deleted once it is 30 days old, the next time you open the app. This assumes ordinary teaching: images that belong to questions you ask. Using the account as general file storage is not what it is for, and Tapsity will write to you before doing anything about it.

The AI Assistant

The AI Assistant proposes and you apply. Nothing it proposes is stored until you apply it, and applying it is your approval: you are the author of what your class sees. A model can mark the wrong answer as right, write a misleading wrong option or start from a false premise, so read what it proposes before you apply it.

It never presents, ends a session, buys or deletes: those are yours. When presenting is the next step, it offers the Present button.

What a request sends to the model must also keep to the usage policy of Anthropic, which runs the model.

Availability

There is no uptime guarantee. Tapsity runs on Cloudflare, and a session carries on through a dropped connection, but keep a way to teach without it. The status page shows the current state and every past incident.

Plans and payment

The free plan includes 5 sessions in each calendar month, counted in UTC. A session is used when the first answer comes in, from any device, yours included: opening a room uses none, and a rehearsal never counts.

Pro is bought as a pass: one payment of USD 36, plus any sales tax, for 4 months of unlimited sessions, one at a time. A pass does not renew. It starts as soon as it is paid for, and the next pass can be bought only once this one has ended.

The AI Assistant is included in both plans, within limits, and nothing about it is sold separately. The free plan includes a weekly limit when you sign in with your university's own Google or Microsoft account, at a domain on Tapsity's list, and does not include the AI Assistant otherwise. Pro includes a larger weekly limit, used first, and an extra amount for busy weeks, used once the weekly limit is reached. Each pass comes with the whole extra, which can be used only while that pass runs. Each week starts on Monday at 00:00 UTC, with the weekly limit available again.

A request counts against your limits by what it costs Tapsity to run. Plan shows how much of each limit is used, as a percentage, and when the week resets. When no limit has room, a request is refused before it starts, with the time the week resets.

A request stops to ask you before its next step once it has taken 30 steps or used a set amount, so a long request goes on only if you say so. A step can pass a limit by its own use, because what a step uses is known only once it has run.

A step counts if the model ran, whatever came back: a reply cut short, one that could not be read, or a question that failed the checks. A step that never reached the model counts for nothing. If the model's provider refuses a request on safety grounds, that step does not count and the request ends. If the assistant marks a question it wrote as breaking a content rule, the question is not shown and the model writes another. That step counts, because the model ran.

The university check reads only the domain of your sign-in and does not judge your role. There is no review to ask for: an account that is not on the list keeps the rest of the free plan and may buy Pro, which includes the AI Assistant.

Prices are in US dollars. Payments are not open yet. When they open, Paddle runs checkout as the merchant of record: it is the seller on your invoice, handles payment, and adds any sales tax to the price. Paddle's checkout terms govern the sale. These terms govern your use of the service and what a purchase gives you.

Refunds

Refunds are handled by Paddle, the merchant of record, under Paddle's refund policy and the law that applies to you. To ask for a refund, use the link in the receipt Paddle sends you. Paddle may also refund or reverse a payment on its own initiative, for example after a chargeback or a purchase it judges to be fraud.

Tapsity itself starts no refunds, with one exception: a payment that Tapsity cannot apply to your account, which Tapsity refunds in full. Nothing in this section limits rights you have under consumer law that cannot be waived, or what Paddle's checkout terms give you, and nothing in it binds Paddle.

Whenever Tapsity or Paddle refunds a payment, in full or in part, or reverses it, what the payment bought is taken back: its pass ends, and with it the AI Assistant's limits the pass included.

Ending it

You can stop using Tapsity at any time. To keep a copy, download your data in Settings first. Then delete your account there: everything in it is erased 30 days later. The erasure ends any Pro time left on it. Deleting your account does not by itself refund a purchase: to have a refund, ask for one as Refunds describes. An account not used for 365 days is erased the same way. 30 days before, Tapsity emails you the date, and signing in keeps it. If your address no longer takes email, it is erased on that date all the same. Tapsity may suspend an account used to attack the service or to break the law, and will tell you why.

Liability

Tapsity's liability to you is limited to what you paid for Tapsity in the twelve months before the event a claim is about, which is nothing if you paid nothing. The limit does not apply to death or personal injury caused by negligence, to fraud, or to harm caused deliberately or by gross negligence, and it does not reduce rights that consumer law gives you and a contract cannot change.

Changes to these terms

Account holders are emailed about a material change to these terms before it takes effect. If you do not accept a change, you can, before it takes effect, stop using Tapsity and ask for your account to be deleted. The version and date at the top of this page record which version applied when.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. They are published in every language of this site, and every language's version is equally binding.
